A conditioning mowing machine for grass and vegetables has a transverse knife beam 66 and above this an impeller rotor 68 and a curved conditioning plate 160, which is arranged around a portion of the periphery of the rotor, so that the crop is first sliced by the knife beam and then conditioned while passing through the channel formed between the plate and the rotor. The plate 160 is configured as a single piece, and the entire plate can be adjusted, after loosening a single clamping bolt 174 on either side of the machine, by shifting it up to and away from the rotor and around the periphery of the rotor. This adjustment possibility allows the machine to be adapted to different crop conditions, so that one can achieve the desired operating conditions. <IMAGE>
