Vehicle side illumination lamp - is clamped to near side rear wing and illuminates cyclists and pedestrians

The lamp is for road vehicles and illuminates the area immediately to the near side. The lamp is intended to reduce collisions with cyclists and pedestrians, often due to the driver being temporarily dazzled by oncoming traffic. The lamp (1) is mounted immediately to the rear and above the near side wheel centre throwing a beam forward and parallel to the road surface. The lamp can be fitted during manufacture or later by a clamp gripping either side of the metal forming the rear wheel wing. One jaw of the clamp carries an arm supporting a cylinder on which the lamp is mounted, the second jaw pivoting on the first. A bolt between the two closes the jaws around the wing material.
