PURPOSE:To enable even an amateur to readily identify degenerated kerosene by bringing the one comprising adsorbing moisture in the powdery or granular carriers which carry KI or NaI and are insoluble in kerosene into contact with the kerosene and identifying the presence or not of its coloring or its degree. CONSTITUTION:The carriers of powder or granular form of 30 mesh or less, particularly about 20 mesh selected from Al2O3, SiO2, MgO, CaO, CaCl2, MgSiO3, Al2(SiO3)3 are let to carry KI or NaI at 0.005-0.2g per 1g of the carriers and water at 0.2g or less per 1g of the carriers. Further, the carriers are let to carry 1/50-1, based on the weight of KI or NaI, of starch. This carrier powder is thinly coated on paper or glass sheet or it is made into pellet form and the pellets are dipped in the kerosene. Otherwise, the kerosene is dropped onto these and the presence or not and degree of their coloring are identified. It is particularly preferable to put the carriers 2 into a transparent pipe 1, dip the pipe 1 applied with a cotton plug 3 or the like into the kerosene and identify the quality of the kerosene from the length of the layer 4 colored by the kerosene sucked up by capillarity. |
