An auxiliary electrical generator is mounted on a frame and is driven by the road wheels of a car. Two rollers (6, 66) are supported on bearings in a frame (3) with a ramped end (4), such that the rear pair of road wheels (177) may be located in position. The electrical generator (12) is also mounted on the frame and is positioned to form a triangle with the rollers. With the vehicle engine running, the wheels transmit motion to the generator via a pulley belt drive (13). A centrifugal governor coupled to the generator output shaft may be coupled to the vehicle throttle control.
