The circuit has an output-voltage-dependent control circuit between the output of the semiconductor and one of its control electrodes. The control circuit is designed so that the overdrive limit defined by the semiconductor's saturation voltage cannot be exceeded. The control circuit is a transistor circuit. The transistor used for controlling is complementary to the transistor switch or amplifier (in the switching or amplifying circuit) whose storage time is being reduced. The control signal is taken from a voltage divider at the output of the transistor switch or amplifier. The circuit may be used as a peak white compressor for TV video output stages.
