PURPOSE:To cut a mat for a lead-acid battery to a uniform length by a procedure in which a position detector is provided at a position corresponding to a given length from the point at which the mat is cut off and the mat is cut off when it reached the position. CONSTITUTION:The mat 1 of glass woven cloth, synthetic resin net, etc., is gradually delivered downwards by the mat delivery rollers 2 and 2'.
