The grommet (2) is primarily intended to prevent sharp bends in the cable (1) where it enters the opening in the housing (10). The grommet has a reduced section shank (3). Over this shank fits a spring ring (4) made of solid insulating material. This ring has a slit (5) enabling it to be pressed together round the grommet and cable when being entered into the hole in the housing. The spring ring has a circumferential groove which locates on the edges of the hole and allows the spring ring to expand slightly giving a secure location. Some of the residual spring pressure acts to give a measure of tension relief on the cable. The spring ring may have a conical end for easier entry into the hole in the housing.
