Fume extn. enclosure - employed to surround ladle contg. molten metal during desulphurisation and slag removal, esp. from molten steel

Parent patent described a sealable chamber used as an enclosure round a ladle contg. molten metal. Desulphurising agents are injected into the melt, and the ladle is then tilted for slag removal. One wall of the enclosure is mobile and carries the roof, which is provided with a fume extn. duct. In this addition the ladle tilter is located alongside a slag removal device which is not mounted on rails; and the pref. device consists either of a slag bucket which can be lifted by a crane, or a slag pit located under the floor. Simplication of the plant described in the parent patent is provided.
