The compounds and compositions of the present invention provide for another efficient chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of cancer. The compounds of the present invention may be derived from extracts of the Solanum plant family. Extracts of one such plant (Solanum sodomeum) known in Australia as apple of Sodom, and incorrectly as devil's apple will be described by way of an example to illustrate the present application. This plant bears fruit which is similar in shape to, but smaller than an apple. The fruit of the plant is generally considered to be poisonous.
