<p>Boat hulls are constructed by laying a plurality of elongate reinforcing pultruded members 2 and members of substantially rigid material 4 or 16, such as urethane foam, on a former 10 in the shape of the hull to be constructed such that the pultruded members and the rigid members alternate and are of equal depth. A layer of glass fibre reinforced plastics material 12 and 14 is then applied to the outside and inside of the resultant structure bonding the members together. The pultruded members and the rigid members may be laid down individually or preformed into composite constructional units 1 which are then laid on the framework. The invention also embraces boat hulls constructed in accordance with the method. <IMAGE></p> |
