PURPOSE:To provide a paint composition having low permeability to carbon dioxide gas and high permeability to steam and suitable for coating inorganic building material of cement base by incorporating polyvinyl alcohol and diatomaceous earth each in a specified amount into a water-dispersed coating resin. CONSTITUTION:100 pts.wt. (resin solids) water-dispersed coating resin (e.g. an acrylic/vinyl acetate copolymer resin emulsion) is mixed with 2-20 pts.wt. polyvinyl alcohol and 5-150 pts.wt. diatomaceous earth to produce a paint composition. Because of low permeability to carbon dioxide gas and high permeability to steam, this composition is suitable as a paint for preventing the carbonation of inorganic building material of cement base and for preventing dew condensation. In particular, it is suitably used as an interior paint for a light-weight aerated concrete panel in unit houses. |
