PURPOSE:To extend the lifetime of the molding fixture for a commutator and to permit the winding end to be securely fixed to the riser by molding a commutator segment having a head with a step, tail, and neck, and inserted between projections formed on the inner surface of the molding fixture. CONSTITUTION:A hoop material for a commutator segment is made of round copper wire by, for example, using a die. The hoop material is shaped to form a commutator segment 2 having a head 5 and tail 9 at both ends, and neck 7 which connects the head 5 and the tail 9 and has a step 11 having narrower width than the head at its head side. The head 5 of the commutator segment 2 is inserted between projections equally pitched on the inner surface of a molding fixture 1, and a molding material is filled, in order to prepare a molded commutator. Thus, no excessive force is applied on the projections of the enclosure, so that its lifetime can be extended, and the winding end can be securely fixed to the riser. |
