PURPOSE:To make semiconductor laser elements as light sources for wavelength- split multiplex communication by one-dimensionally arraying the plural optical fibers mounted with the semiconductor laser elements respectively at one end at an equal spacing and disposing a diffraction grating and condensing system in opposition to these. CONSTITUTION:For example, three pieces of optical fibers 3-5 are arrayed one- dimensionally at an equal spacing on a substrate 1 and thick-film-lens-form media 6-8 are connected respectively to their other ends to condense the opposite side output rays 12-14 of semiconductor laser elements 9-11. The semiconductor laser elements 9-11 having a difference of about 3nm in their oscillation wavelengths with respect to the assigned wavelengths of the respective channels. The output light of the semiconductor laser element 9 is coupled to the optical fiber 3 by the thick-film-form lens medium 6, propagates in its inside and is diffracted by a diffraction grating 16 by way of the concave mirror 15 in a solid spectroscope 2, after which it is again coupled to the optical fiber 3 and returns to the semiconductor element 9, thereby letting it make single longitudinal mode oscillation. The same holds ture of the other laser elements 10, 11. Hence, these may be utilized as stable light sources for wavelength-split multiplex communication. |
