The power-driven garden hoe is steered by handlebars, and incorporates a mechanism imparting a reciprocating movement to the tool similar to that during hand-hoeing. This comprises an eccentric (1) actuating a lever (2) hinging on a link (3), the latter in turn hinging on the frame (4), the tool (5) being fixed to the lever. A support penetrating into the soil prevents the machine lifting as the tool is driven into it, being typically formed by a plate (6) on the end of a blade (7). A wide wheel, or twin ones, can be provided, to allow control of the working depth.
