The compressor (15) and its reservoir (16) are connected by a tube (26). A branch of the tube (26) is connected to a pressure switch (20). At high pressure the switch stops the compressor and simultaneously vents it to atmosphere through the tube (28). At low pressure the switch restarts the compressor on no load. The compressor is lubricated by mineral oil, and the tube (26) is in the form of a swan neck to form an oil tap and give oil free air delivery.
