Tie rod and clamp for building construction - has rod passing through tube with spacing wedges retained by threads

Plate (B) is joined to tube (T) by passing a rod (1) through holes (h) in them. The rod is threaded over the whole of its length. Spacing wedges (2) with interior threads (6), are of much larger outside dia. than the rod, giving it greater flexural strength. Spacers of different thickness are provided, so that a combination can be used to exactly match, the distance between (B) and (T). The fixing is completed by end caps (3) which have interior threaded recesses (8). Rubber washers ensure that the caps are not accidently unthreaded.
