<p>Hollow mould having a cavity assembling part of a horizontal cylinder and open along the top of the cavity is claimed for use in shaping flexible thermoplastic film for packaging purposes. The mould has vents for vacuum assistance in shaping the film. The mould mouth is undercut, but not too much to release shaped flexible film. Used for preparing e.g. polyolefin or polyamide films for automated packaging or foodstuff, such as fillets of salted herring put into mini-bales. Long cylindrical forms are more readily prepared and removed from a mould which is accessible radially than one which needs to be loaded and unloaded axially. No need for axial taper on pack form.</p> |
