The equipment reduces noise during handling of pipes, bars, barrels etc. as they are rolled sideways on a grid. It comprises separator bodies (3) travelling automatically in a guide inside the grid etc. in the direction (A) in which the bodies (1) roll. The guide can comprise a forward travel track (5), a deflector section (6), a return track (7), and a section (8) up which the separator bodies are lifted to the forward track again.
