Coated metal wire drawing die - with two stepped truncated cone sections of specified shape using fluid lubricant

Fluid lubricating drawing method for coated metal wire, consisting of a harder core (steel, Cu, Al) and a softer coating (Cu, al, Pb) is based on a die block in which the rod is introduced together with a lubricant. A first section with a truncated cone shape has a total cone angle of =5 degrees. A following second truncated cone section has a total cone angle of 6-20 degrees. The first section has a length of >=10(15-50) mm. The lubricant is injected at a high pressure. This creates an optimum die shape for the drawing of coated wire, using a fluid lubricant. A uniform reduction is achieved for the harder core as well as for the softer coating.
