A digital information processing system for the generation of image display provides high processing rates. The system has a work store operating together with a number of computing units. Depending upon the type of image processing more computer modules may be required. All computing units are connected to the store over a common data bus, consisting of unidirectional buses for transfers to and from the store. A separate address bus connects with the store and another address bus connects with the central control unit that directs all processing operations. A keyboard allows operator intervention in the process and a character generator provides information for graphical symbols etc.
