The carrier has a support (1) for the live rail (3) and a carrying arm (2). The live rail (3) is attached to the carrying arm (2) by a claw-shaped bracket which grips the rail support (1) and carrying arm (2) being made of plastics. The foot (5) is T-shaped, and the head (6) U-shaped with a shield (7). The carrying arm (2) is fixed above a wedge shaped block through which runs a threaded spindle. This spindle is held in position at each end by the side plates of the support (1). A screw (10) holds the carrying arm (2) firmly in place, until it is required to raise the height of the rail (3), when this screw is loosened, a spanner placed on the square end (13) of the spindle and turned. This has the effect of sliding the wedge which, in turn, raises the rail.
