PURPOSE: To achieve an easier aiming in the actual play by forming a ball hitting surface in a shape of a roughly cylindrical convex curved surface with a horizontal cross-section being linear and with a vertical cross-section being convex curved. CONSTITUTION: In an iron club 10, a ball hitting surface 11 is made as roughly cylindrical convex curved surface with its horizontal cross-section being linear and its vertical cross-section almost cylindrically convex curved. The ball hitting surface of the iron club with its vertical cross-section being convex curved turns its convex curved surface identical to a spherical convex curved surface in the condition of sliding with a ball and spinning or the like applied on the ball, thereby remarkably increasing a carry of the ball. Despite its convex curved surface, the linearity in the cross-section of the ball hitting surface keeps the flying condition of the ball almost unchanged even when it contacts the ball at a slightly different position, though the easiness of aiming slightly lowers. In other words, this iron club achieves a larger carry of the ball with a slight drop in the easiness of aiming as compared with that having a flat hitting surface.
|
