The shaft like handle shaft (13) which is coupled to the umbrella stock is associated at the base with a handle cap (14) which is fixed yet detachable. The handle shaft (14) is provided in the centre with a full-length hole with a tension seat which corresponds to the cross-section of the lower stock part (2) i. e. thus generally hexagonal. The connection is now made by a snap-fitting like engagement with corresponding openings being associated with the hook-like locking elements protruding on the handle cap. A circular web on the handle shaft engages round a protruding flange on the cap providing an additional centring for the two structural parts whilst forming at the same time an even dividing plane.
