PURPOSE:To temporarily secure a free side bearing firmly to heighten rigidity and eliminate problems due to rotation axis whirling, vibration, etc. and hindrances to improve the accuracy, by performing thrusting in the radial direction by fluid pressure at the time of loading. CONSTITUTION:The outer race 31 of a free side bearing 3 is tightly fitted in a sleeve 5 which is statically fitted with a slight clearance in the lid 41 of a housing 4. A forward thrusting preload is applied by a compressed spring 6 bridged by a rear lid 42. Thin holes 7 are opened in the lid 41 so that the holes extend at 71 to an internal hole 43 in which the sleeve 5 is statically fitted. When compressed air is injected through ports 72 from an air pressure source not shown in drawings, the air gushes into the slight clearance on the sleeve 5 in the internal hole 43 through the thin holes 7, 71 so that the sleeve is thrusted downward and secured by the pressure of the air. |
