In the prodn. of sandwich-type material from a continuous bottom layer of paper, card or similar sheet material, to which is applied a layer of pre-foamed plastics granules mixed with thermoplsatic powder, followed by a top layer similar to the bottom, the thermoplastic powder is of particle size =250, pref. 30-180, mu. The granules are pref. of 0.4-0.8 mm. size before foaming and 1.1-2.3 mm. afterwards. The powder pref. constitutes is approx. 15wt.% of the middle layer. Use of powder free from coarse particles, which is first applied to the underside of the top layer before mixing with the granules, ensures a more even distribution. |
