The stepped base which has vertically spaced support faces for the containers is provided with an outline grid whose grid units correspond to the base surface of the container. The stepped base rises on all sides from the lowest peripheral support face which is the same level all round to the uppermost central support face. The steps between the individual support faces preferably run in the area of the grid edges and pref. have a height which is below that of the containers. This design, although extremely space-saving still allows excellent viewing of the contents on sale.
