<p>2-(6-pyrazol-l-yl)-Benzofuran-2-yl-benzimidazole cpds. (I) and 6-pyrazol-1-yl-benzofuran-2-carboxylic acid cpds. (II) are new, (where X is -COOH in (II) in a benzimidazole gp. of the following formula in (I): R1 is H, (ar)alkyl, aryl or styryl; R2 is H, (ar)alkyl, aryl, halo, CN, COOR or CONRR. R3 are R6 are H, alkyl or aryl; R4 and R5 are H, alkyl, alkoxy or halo; R7 is H, alkyl, alkoxy, halo, aryl, alkyl- or aryl-sulphonyl, SO3H, COOH, CN, COOR, CONRR, CONHR, CONH2 or CF3. R8 is H, halo, alkyl or alkoxy; R9 and R10 are (cyclo)alkyl, alkenyl or aralkyl; R9 can also be aryl or, if n = O, H; R10 can also be H. R is H or (ar)alkyl. A circled negative is a colourless anion of an (in)organic acid, of valency s; n = 0 or 1. The hydrocarbyl and alkoxy gps. can have the normal substits. for optical brighteners. (I) are specified for use as optical brighteners for organic high mol. materials (e.g. polyester, polyamide, cellulose ester and esp. polyacrylonitrile textiles and films). They give red-violet to neutral fluorescence and good fastness.</p> |
