A saw guide subassembly for a mitre box includes a pair of saw guide elements with vertical guide means on their opposed surfaces. Slides are slidably seated on the saw guides and have bearing pads extending towards each other and guide means operating with those of the saw guide elements. Biasing means bias the slides upwardly but pressure exerted on the pads by the saw can move the slides downwardly to increase the depth of cut permitted. The cooperating guide means desirably comprise slots in the saw guide elements and web portions in the slides which are seated in the slots. |
