<p>Solid wood profile pieces are cut from trunks of timber in the natural state, or branch sections. The cutting machine includes a series of form cutters working on the trunk as separate tools. Their planes of rotation run in the feed direction. Two or pref. three form a group in a plane at right angles to the centre longitudinal axis, and are radially adjustable against it; these are two such groups in tandem. Cutters in both are offset round the trunks so that those in one group act on peripheral areas not engaged by those in the other. This enables non-circular profiles to be produced on a single cut without use of special equipment.</p> |
