Boards are conveyed to a press after being dovetailed, glued and if necessary set upright, in a process for joining them and pressing them together. The boards emerging from the dovetailing assembly are thrust into the press, upright, without turning, and with a rectangular cross-section and are then pressed. The press is pref. set up for the vertical position, and joins and pressed boards in this position. A device for positioning a set of boards can be sited between dovetailing assembly and press. This permits easy working on short, virtually square sectioned boards, with a simplified layout.
