Prodn. of readily dispersible pigment prepns., with a pigment content of over 65wt.% involves suspending the pigment in water to give a suspension contg. 25-50(30-45)wt.% solids, heating this to 60-70 degrees C, with kneading, adding a cationic substance and then an octoate. After this, the binder dissolved in an organic solvent is added, with kneading, the water expelled is poured away and the organic material is kneaded further and dried. The prepns. are useful for the prodn. of gravure and rotary offset printing inks and carbon papers. They are not only readily dispersible but also stable in storage for long periods.
