METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PROCESSING AQUEOUS LIQUIDS CONTAINING CYANIDE

The invention relates a method and a device for processing preferably cyanide-containing liquids, according to which at least one oxidizing agent is added to the liquid (1) at a pH < approximately 9 and said liquid is then irradiated with ultraviolet light. At a pH < approximately 9 free and complex cyanides contained notably in aqueous liquids can be fully split, for example oxidized. By irradiating the liquid with ultraviolet light a radical reaction can be initiated in the course of which the cyanides are fully oxidized by the oxidizing agent, such as hydrogen peroxide. Resulting gaseous products are preferable absorbed on/by a sorption agent during a secondary treatment. Said products are notably treated with an aqueous wash solution.
