The device is used for switching an electrical load from one supply to another without a break. The main supply is a semiconductor AC generating system and in the event of failure smooth switching to another system is achieved. The device uses an electronic switch and an energy store connected between the two lower supplies and the load. - Sensors determine when the first or main lower supply fails. When the main lower supply (1) is restored, the load is switched back to it. The electronic switch (8) closes and the switch protection circuit (9) is connected in series with the energy store (4) and the lower supply (1). At the same time a switch (SR) bridging a resistor (R) is opened in order to bring the resistor into the circuit as an additional load. There are two further switches (11, 12) which are opened.
