Self-restoring snap action switch operates to make a circuit whilst pressure is maintained on the press button. The press button (1) and support (2) operate the snap spring unit (4) to move the contact slide (9) between the contact springs (11) in order to make the circuit. The contact slide (9) has an insulating section (12) and a carbon impregnated conducting zone (13). The slide (9) moves between contact springs (11) and support guides (10). The snap action spring (4) is a double bow (5, 6, 7) with the central wafer (6) held firmly by a centre support and clamp (8). One end of the double bow is held in the press button unit (1, 2), and the other end in the contact slide (9). The switch is a fast action unit with low resistance, although not as low as with metal contact material and is suitable for switching MOS circuitry.
