<p>The auxiliary power unit is attached to an IC engine and uses the waste heat to drive a Rankine steam engine. This drives the auxiliary gear such as generator, hydraulic pump and air compressor. It can also provide additional torque for the main drive. The Rankine engine provides a reclaiming control for the engine heat for more efficient running. The steam engine drives the other power units via a belt drive. It also powers the injector jets for the steam engine.</p> |
