Lime mud press - with graduated mesh sizes on outer and inner screen tubes of annular press space

A press for lime mud, esp. for dewatering the lime mud from the extn. of the juice in the sugar beet industry, consists of an outer screen tube which forms with an inner screen tube an annular press space. The latter has a variable discharge slot with a spring-loaded closure ring. The screen tubes consist of a fine screen with mesh sizes between 0.01-0.1 mm and divergent holes, a support screen with larger mesh sizes and a support tube with still larger perforations. Such a press costs only a fraction of a conventional plate press. Clogging of the meshes is eliminated.
