Hollow threads are composed of synthetic polymers having from 10 to 90% by volume of intercommunicating pores and an even surface containing open pores. The proportion of the surface of the threads which has such pores amounts to from 10 to 90%. The threads may be used in heat exchangers, filters, oxygenators and in chemical apparatus.
