<p>PURPOSE:Titled adhesive having excellent flame retardancy, resistance to hydrolysis and adhesivity, comprising an ester-forming alkali metal sulfonate compound, a phosphorus-containing dicarboxylic acid compound and a polyalkylene glycol. CONSTITUTION:A polyester adhesive having a relative viscosity of at least 1.13 is prepared by adding to a mixture of an aromatic dicarboxylic acid or an ester- forming derivative thereof and a glycol such as ethylene glycol or 1,2-propylene glycol, 3-12mol%, based on the total acid components, of an ester-forming alkali metal sulfonate compound such as 5-sodium solfoisophthalate and at least 4wt%, based on the polyester to be formed, of a polyalkylene glycol represented by formula I, (wherein R<5> is H or a hydrocarbyl group of at most 20C, R<6> is an ethylene, propylene or butylene group and p is 2-90), carrying out the ester interchange of the resulting mixture: adding 500-1,000ppm, calculated as P and based on the polyester, of a phosphorus-containing dicarboxylic acid compound expressed by the formula II: and polycondensing the resulted mixture to obtain a polyester adhesive having >1.13 relative viscosity.</p> |
