The writing instrument consists of a body (1) with a tip (4) deployed and retracted by a spring-loaded click stop mechanism (6, 7, 8) operated by a shank (8) passing through the opposite end of the body to the tip. The shank is fitted with a suction cup (10) which allows the instrument to be attached to a smooth surface, deploying or retracting the tip by pressing the body in the direction of the suction cup.
