摘要 PURPOSE:To simplify an image forming process, by disposing a porous body opposite to a water-absorptive high molecular weight compound film provided on a conductive substrate, with a space layer between the porous body and the water-absorptive compound film, disposing an image writing head opposite to the substrate and adjacently to the porous body, and pouring a pigment dispersion system into the space layer. CONSTITUTION:A pigment dispersion system 40 is poured into a space layer provided between a water-absorptive high molecular weight compound film 20 and a porous body 30, and a liquid portion is entirely absorbed from the pigment dispersion system 40 by the high molecular weight compound film 20 to form a high molecular weight compound gel 20'. The gel 20' is sandwiched between a conductive substrate 10 and the porous body 30, and is maintained substantially in equilibrium with the pigment dispersion system in a supply source 60. A printing medium (paper) 80 is superposed on image forming elements provided with the gel 20', an image writing head (electrode) 50 is disposed thereon, and a voltage is applied between the head 50 as a positive electrode and the substrate 10. The liquid portion is released from the gel 20' opposed to the head 50, whereby pigment particles 70 are carried by the liquid portion to the side of the head 50, and are brought into contact with the printing medium 80, thereby forming an image.
