The composition represents another type of additive, further to filterability and dispersant additives, which extends the working temperature of the middle distillate products to below -20 deg C. The additive composition for the cold operation of middle distillate oils results from the reaction of carboxylic compounds with amine compounds. It contains at least 50% of a mixture comprising: (a) 10-90% of an additive AB consisting of a carboxylic compound A chosen from alkylmaleic, alkenylmaleic, alkylsuccinic and alkenylsuccinic anhydrides with 4-32C alkyl or alkenyl, the corresponding acids and esters, with an amine B chosen from the polyalkylamines of formula (I), the molar ratio A/B varying from 1/m + 1 and m + 1, preferably 1-2; (b) 90-10% of an additive CD of at least one copolymer C resulting from the reaction of: (i) an unsaturated carboxylic acid (optionally substituted) with an alkylated ester of a second unsaturated carboxylic acid (optionally substituted) of general formula (II); with (ii) a N-alkylpolyalkylenepolyamine D of general formula (III); NH2-((CH2)n-NH-)m-H (I) n = 2-4; and m = 1-4. R1 and R2 = H or 1-20C alkyl; R3 = H or 3C maximum alkyl; and R4 = H or 1-25C alkyl. R5-NH-(-(CH2)p-NH-)q-H (III) R5 = 12-22C saturated aliphatic radical; p = 2-4; and q = 1-4. C/D varies from 1/q+1 to q+1, and is preferably 1-2. An Independent claim is also included for a fuel composition comprising mainly middle distillate, optionally a filterability additive and 50-1000 ppm of a multi-functional additive composition as above.
