PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material which provides a high contrast image nearly free from unevenness in density, excellent in dot quality and having high Dmax by laser exposure and heat development and which is excellent also in conveyability in heat development and to provide an image formation method. SOLUTION: In the heat developable photosensitive material with a photosensitive layer containing an organic silver salt, silver halide, a reducing agent and a contrast enhancer on a base, the ten-point average roughness (R10z) of the surface of a layer opposite to the photosensitive layer with respect to the base is 3.0-5.0μm and a binder having 60-200 deg.C glass transition temperature is contained in at least one layer on the photosensitive layer side of the base.
