PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an N-R operating force reducing device of a manual transmission capable of artificially applying drag torque to an input shaft to reduce a difference in rotating speed to be synchronized by a synchronous ring in shift operation of a manual transmission so that N→R shift can be easily performed even with a small shift operating force. SOLUTION: This N-R operating force reducing device is provided with a drag torque applying means acting on the input shaft to generate drag torque in N→R shift, and an N→R shift detecting switch formed in a part of a N-R speed change stage route in the interior of a shift lever unit, and operated by a shift lever in N→R shift to apply and electric signal depending on N→R shift to the drag torque applying means. The drag torque applying means is formed by a friction member coming into contact with the input shaft in operation to generate the frictional force, thereby applying drag torque, and an actuator or forward and backward operating the friction member according to an electric signal applied from the N→R shift detecting switch.
