The invention relates to a sorting device for particles (P) with different material characteristics, comprising at least two successive means of transport (1, 2) in the direction of transport (X) which are supplied upstream by the particles (P) to be sorted. At least one sensor (40) for detecting a material characteristic is arranged in the area of the upstream means of transport. A device which ejects particles with particular material characteristics is provided between two means of transport which succeed each other in the direction of transport (X). A horizontal distance or gap (A) is provided between the successive means of transport (1, 2). At least one blast nozzle (71, 72, 73, 74) is arranged in the area of the gap (A) in such a way that the particles (P) and liquid are supplied by means of the blast nozzles, depending on the detection results from the sensors (40), so that the particles (P) with the particular material characteristics reach the downstream means of transport via the gap (A).
