Flood gate actuating mechanism - has vertical screw spindles in bearings on gate guiding piers engaging nuts at both sides of gate

The actuating mechanism is intended for a vertically slidable gate, partic. a gate with large dimensions such as may be used in a flood barrier. The gate is arranged between guides on vertical piers (2) and is operated on either side by drives (10-12, 14) on each pier (2a). Each drive mechanism comprises a vertical screw spindle (6) carried in a bearing (7) on the pier (2a) and engaging a nut (3) secured on the gate. The bearing (7) and the nut (3) may be held via resilient elements (8a, 4a) forming a universal coupling fixture to the pier (2a) and the gate respectively.
