The gas separator is intended to stop a flow of liquid, such as hydrocarbon fuel, in a dispensing pump when it contains excessive gas, and provides degassing. The fuel flows through a container with a float, actuating a stop valve. The cylindrical float (17) is accommodated, with a small peripheral clearance, in a chamber (22) in the top part of the container (13), moving between a top and a bottom position in accordance with the gas contents. A stop valve (18) and a gas discharge pipe (19) are in the top of the container near the float chamber.
