The V-belt pulley is in two halves joined together at various distances apart in the axial direction. Each half has radial support faces (10, 12, 14) inclined to the peripheral direction and bearing against those (20, 22, 24) on the other half. The halves (2, 4) are merely turned in relation to each other to vary their distance apart. The halves can be bolted together, there being elongated holes in one of the halves through which the bolts pass.
