Vehicle alternator bearing lubrication unit - has wear part under spring tension for contacting revolving shaft

Refilling of lubricant for bearings of vehicle alternators is made after a given number of rotor turnings, and thus extends the service life of bearing and improves the reliability of the unit. This is achieved with a wear part (18) sliding in recess (16) of the bearing boss (11) in the alternator. The wearing part is loaded by spring (19) to ensure its rubbing contact with the shaft (15). After a certain number of shaft revolutions the wearing part simply frees the grease in a recess (16) to flow into the space between the outer and inner races (13, 14) of the bearing. Instead of the sliding wearing part, there are other designs for implementing the same principle for extending lubricant supply to the bearing.
