<p>The guiding carriage (20) comprising a cutting oil supply pipe is driven by the feed device until it comes to a standstill against the face of the workpiece opposite to the puppet head (12) while the bit-holder carriage (25) travels by means of the feed motor. During such feed motion of the carriage (25), the latter is connected to the guiding carriage (20) through an elastic connection (28) which drives the guiding carriage (20) until it comes into contact with the workpiece and stops there. At rest, the guiding carriage (20) is coupled, through a spring (42), to an auxiliary carriage (40) which is arranged sliding on the frame between the two carriages (20, 25). This auxiliary carriage (40) may be locked as desired either on the frame or on the elastic connection (28). </p> |
