<p>Apparatus for looping tying material (4) about the eye (5) of a button (2), comprising means (1) for supporting a button (2) having an eye (5) extending outwardly from a reverse side thereof, means (3) for passing a doubled length of tying material (4) through the eye (5) of a button (2) supported by the supporting means (1) and means (6) for looping one of the strands (4a) of a said doubled length of tying material (4) about the eye (5) of a said button (2). The looping means (6) comprises an arcuate member (2) having a cut-out (26) therein which defines a shoulder (27) for engaging said one strand (4a) of tying material (4). The looping means (6) is rotatable about an axis which is inclined relative to the axis of a button (2) supported by the button supporting means (1) so that said one strand (4a) will be carried by the shoulder (27) around the eye (5) of the button (2) first in a direction away from the button (2) so that a loop (33) is formed in said strand (4a) around the arcuate member (2) to maintain the strand (4a) in engagement with the shoulder (27), then in a direction towards the button (2) to disengage the loop (33) from the arcuate member (20) and finally again in a direction away from the button (2) to disengage the strand (4a) from the shoulder (27). </p> |
